Nominations for the best toy for 2006 are already out and what a mixed bunch they are. This is one advantage of having the toy fair earlier this year. I think that all appointments are to do with advertising more than anything else. The most abundant advertising are more likely to be named. That may be because they are probably better known.
I look at the toys a little differently. I love toys that children do something or do something like Dora's Talking Kitchen. This is a classic, it has been in the top 10 last year and is still going strong. What do you expect? The girls have much to do and they can keep coming back and doing new things. That's what I call a useful toy, one that will be used much before being discarded.
There are too many werenÂ't nominations in this category.
A toy that is very popular but does not seem to match what is shown in Advertising is the Air Hogs Zero Gravity Car line controlled remotely. In the announcement they drive on every wall. In fact, they seem not be as good as if you have perfectly smooth walls free of dust.
Only time will tell with this one. I look and I think "How long that keep my child interested? Â "I think the novelty will dissipate fairly quickly, especially if it falls off the walls.
No one I liked was the Plasmacar. This looked really neat, but is good for flat smooth surfaces so probably not the best for outdoors. It may keep young people going for a while and you donÂ't have to push.
This year there are a number of R / C Shell Shocker Toys as Tyco. A cross between a thing and a transformer. It is a kind of toy genius who took the model of transformation into something that moves on almost everything, the garden, the sidewalk and pools of water just to name a few. Another R / C flying is the Air Hogs R / C Dominator. It comes already assembled, which is unfortunate because children can get more out of him if we could put together.
A toy I work is CanÂ't off Star Wars Darth Vader mask. I had a look at one and thought, a "What can you do with it? Where do you wear it. "I think the novelty will fade fairly quickly. But again there are all the accessories to buy to go with the mask, such as clothing and boots. The money is in accessories these days.
There are a number of unusual toys this year and the 2000 Moon shoes are the one of them. When I saw the movie I thought about professora Â'Absent Minded disneyi Walt's "there for many years, where each bounce everywhere. These shoes are not really good, but like, where you bounce around the place with mini-trampoline on your feet. I think they really add an extra dimension to the tried and trusted an idiom "Break a Leg."
Another on the side most convenient is the Radio Flyer Fold 2 Go Trike XL push with its telescoping handle. This is useful when a child runs out of energy. That some something that the child might, with its color and style, which could be a small problem you have to push.
A new toy generation, the virtual toy is the Pixel Chix from Mattel. IÂ'm still wonder if they make headway. They are up against the Amazing Amanda doll and Bratz Babyz I call the modern version of Barbie. My daughter is already walking around a pair of shoes for Bratz Babyz, if accessories are king.
They are the real dolls, dolls that you have to play with, and I think that's what dolls and toys are all about.
Something to play with. Not something to show your friends, or buy just because everyone buys them.
